Yes, a dehumidifier can help prevent mold by reducing excess moisture in the air. It can also support a properly designed drying or moisture-control plan. But a dehumidifier does not remove existing mold, repair a leak, stop groundwater seepage, or guarantee that wet walls and floors are dry.

Humidity is not an on-off switch. Mold does not appear the moment a room reaches one number. Duration, temperature, surface conditions, airflow, and material moisture all matter.

Take readings:
